The Plane That Is Dividing the Sky
The plane that is dividing the sky; you are trying not to see it as an anchor. Why should it look like an anchor? It doesn’t. You know what anchors look like.
As you lie in your hammock, motionless, you take stock of the situation. It looks exactly like an airplane should, & not like an anchor. Still, that is what you see. An anchor being dragged by a line. It isn’t a line. It isn’t a rope. It is a contrail, and the airplane precedes it, not pulled along by it. But you see it in reverse and it’s an anchor dragged by a rope.
Then in the moment before it completes its incision across the belly of the firmament, in the moment before it divides the sky, it snags on a cloud and the earth grinds into a sudden gear-shattering halt & your hammock swings hard to the east while houses tear out of the ground and fly past, spilling bodies & furniture. When this occurs you are not in the least bit surprised.
